The live event offers 2 distances of either 22km/14mi or 42km/26mi. Both routes start and finish at the primary school in Stoke St Michael.
The route follows paths, trails and minor roads with much of it being cross country. The 26mi route takes in part of the East Mendip Way, the spectacular Shepton Mallet Viaduct, and Maesbury Castle. And both routes include the pretty village of Mells and Cranmore Tower. It is a ‘hilly’ walk with some long elevation climbs (the total 26mi elevation gain is 794m!), but with views that make it all worth it!
There are regular checkpoints which all participants must pass through (including the start/finish), one of which is Croscombe Village School. These will be staffed and walkers will be able to refuel/water at each checkpoint with water, fruit and sweets provided.
Medals will be awarded to all participants at the finish line!
Registration opens at 7am walk starts at 8am. Last finish time 6pm.
The Virtual Event is for participants to complete on foot 42km/26m between 1st September – 26th September 2022. Entrants can do it in as many or as few intervals as they want and can choose any route. All km/miles walked can be recorded via a fitness tracker however, participants will not be required to ‘prove’ their distances. Medals will be distributed after 26th September 2022. You can enter the virtual walk for £20 or £40 for a family!
